Michael Mercier Detangling Brush...

One of my best purchases in 2012 was definitely my Tangle Teezer brush! It literally could do no wrong in my eyes but as a blogger I'm always on the look out for something new. So when I came across this similar looking brush from Michael Mercier, I had to try!

What's different about this brush is that it has a handle for a start. I think a lot of people found the Tangle Teezer slightly annoying to hold, sometimes it would miraculously slip out of my hand and fling across the room unexpectedly! It also boasts 428 bristles, all at different heights so it really combs itself through every inch of hair, something that I don't think the Tangle Teezer did!

It doesn't feel as soft on my hair but saying that it really feels that my hair is getting a decent brush and I would say it's better than the Tangle Teezer for not breaking any of my hair.

What I also love about this brush is that they come in 3 colours for different hair types. Pink for fine hair, Green for normal and Blue for thick afro/curly hair. They also have a range of brushes for the little  ones as well! I just wish they would bring out a brush for pets, my Bree hates having her fur brushed so I wonder if she would find something like this more enjoyable!

So to sum it up I still LOVE my Tangle Teezer and will certainly carry on using it but I think for my long hair the Michael Mercier brush slightly pips it to the post!

I would love to know what brush you prefer or if you haven't tried either of them what would you go for?

YSL Rouge Volupte Shine Lipstick...

One of the latest makeup trends for Spring 13 has been all about a seriously super bright lip, a look that I think anyone can recreate and look great! One of my favourite makeup artist's, Lisa Eldridge, recently filmed a makeup tutorial based on this on her YouTube channel.

I adore the look Lisa created and really wanted to purchase the lipstick she used which is the YSL Rouge Volupte Shine Lipstick in colour 19, Rage. As you can see from the video, it's a gorgeous pinky/purple colour with blue undertones. It may look super bright but it is actually more sheer than you might think and you can easily build up the colour to make your lips really pop.

The lipstick gives a lovely subtle gloss to the lips, which actually feels more like a balm. It's really moisturising and as it's YSL, the staying power is great.

What I really love about it though is the packaging, YSL never scrimp on their designs and this is just gorgeous. I love the gold case with the logo embossed on a band of colour. It looks really pretty in my makeup bag as well!

Check out Lisa's video to see how great it looks on the lips, hope you enjoy...X

CLINIQUE a different nail enamel...

Clinique have launched a brand new collection of nail polishes this month and after seeing Pixiwoo rave about them on their YouTube video, I had to follow and purchase my own. Nic was wearing a beautiful green colour on her nails, which she said she had been getting loads of compliments on. And what with 'green' nails being very in at the moment (essie & Revlon also have some great shades) I decided this was the colour I was going to trial.

Colour 17, Hula Skirt, is a really pretty, almost Granny Smith Apple shade of green. It's quite an unusual colour that most people would probably be afraid of, but I think we can all get away with having quite eccentric colours on our nails and there are so many wacky colours out at the moment. It's limited edition so if you like the look of it then I suggest you get it quick.

What's different about these Clinique polishes is that they are suitable for sensative eyes and skin and Pixiwoo made a very strong statement saying that they are the longest wearing nail polishes they have ever tried! I can't really say the same at the moment as I have only had it on for a day but so far so good!

There are 19 colours in the collection and are available now from all Clinique stands at £12 each. If you want to check out Pixiwoos review on them then click here.

Pixiwoo Makeup Course...

Last month I travelled down to Norwich to spend a week with Pixiwoo! I have wanted to do a makeup course for a long time so when the opportunity came up to do a course with Nic & Sam, I jumped at the chance. On Monday 15th April I walked into the studio, a little late as I did get lost, and was surrounded by loads of girls from all around the world to do the course. First of all I was stunned by how beautiful Sam & Nic actually are, I know they look amazing on You Tube but they really are stunning in real life. Sam was like a walking super model! So we all introduced ourselves and then got straight into the makeup. It was like being in a sweet shop, the amount of makeup is UNBELIEVABLE!

Throughout the week Sam & Nic went through so many different makeup looks. From weddings, to smokey eyes, to red lips, to drag queen, to blocking out brows & then my favourite, going through the history of makeup. You can really tell that Sam has such a passion for all the different eras and it was really interesting to look through the 20's style all the way through to today.

We looked at different eye & face shapes, how to contour & highlight & how to apply eye liner & lip liner. We also got the chance to be really creative with some of the looks. I loved using eyeshadow pigments on a lip to create a really cool effect. I also really enjoyed turning Barbara into a Drag Queen!

So my week came to an end but I met some truly lovely people, Barbara from Switzerland, Maren from Germany, Christina from New York, Becky & Maddie from Norwich, Laura from Rhode Island & Emma from Southampton. All the girls were amazing and to travel from such a distance really showed how people really respect Pixiwoo as make-up artists!

I hope you enjoy the pictures above and please check out Pixiwoo's channel on You Tube www.youtube.com/channel. If Sam, Nic & Stacey ever read this post then I just want to say thank you for such a great week and for all the amazing things you taught us.
